Othmar Pfannes, Founder & President
With a vision for streamlining biopharma R&D processes with advanced in silico solutions, Othmar founded Genedata in 1997. Since then, he has guided the company’s organic growth into a global organization with strategically located offices that meet the evolving drug discovery needs of leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agrichemical companies, and academic research institutions. Committed to delivering innovations through industry collaborations, Othmar brings together expert scientists and software engineers who are as passionate as he is about contributing to the development of novel life-saving therapies. He has served on several Boards of Directors and government expert councils, including the European Union. Othmar has a Ph.D. in statistics from the University of California at Berkeley.
Hans Peter Fischer, Head of Genedata Biologics Business Unit
Hans Peter, with Genedata since its founding in 1997, has pioneered the company’s development of in silico methods for genome, pathway, and promoter analysis. Under his forward-thinking guidance, he created the Genedata Phylosopher software for target management, which paved the way for Genedata Biologics. Today, BIOLOGICS is the life science industry’s most widely-adopted platform for the discovery of biotherapeutics, innovative antibody screening, and protein engineering. A recognized expert in computational biology, Hans Peter has been honored with industry awards and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars. Additionally, he participates in several government expert councils. Hans Peter has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Konstanz.
Stephan Heyse, Head of Genedata Screener Business Unit
Stephan joined Genedata in 2000 and built the Genedata Screener business unit from the ground up, making SCREENER the data analysis and management platform of choice for most of the world’s top 25 pharma companies. Inspiring innovation, Stephan leads cross-functional and cross-continental teams that enable systematic analytics and management of high-volume, multimodal biological R&D data. He has been instrumental in bringing to market the award-winning Genedata Imagence - a deep learning-based/AI solution for automated high-content image analysis. Stephan regularly contributes to industry events and roundtables, and is a member of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening. Stephan has a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Kurt Zingler, Managing Director USA
Kurt, with Genedata since 2004, has led the successful year-to-year growth of Genedata in the U.S. on both the east and west coasts. Expert in marketing and selling life science software and bioinformatics solutions, Kurt is passionate about collaborating with and developing strong partnerships within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research communities. With a deep understanding of science and technology, he brings together researchers and developers to translate customer needs into successful solutions. An American Cancer Society Fellow at the University of California at San Francisco, Kurt has published extensively in the fields of immunology, virology, and informatics. Kurt has a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of California at San Francisco.
Marc Flesch, Managing Director Germany
Marc Flesch, who joined Genedata in 2000, is a recognized expert in biopharma computational biology and has been instrumental in the company’s growth trajectory. In addition to leading Genedata in Germany and mentoring a global software engineering team, Marc co-heads the Genedata Profiler business unit. Here, he focuses on enabling translational research for precision medicines and bridging the gap between pre-clinical and clinical development in biopharma. Marc has received numerous industry awards and is a featured speaker at industry conferences and symposia. Marc has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Particle Physics from the RWTH Aachen.
Hideki Shimohiro, Managing Director Japan
Hideki, with Genedata since 2006, has spearheaded the successful growth of the Genedata subsidiary in Japan with a dedicated team of business specialists and application experts. His expertise in Asian pharmaceutical markets combined with a deep knowledge of bioinformatics and cheminformatics software is forging collaborative partnerships with leading Asian life science companies and academic institutions. Hideki graduated from Senshu University with a degree in business.
Kevin Teburi, Managing Director UK
Kevin joined Genedata in 2016 and opened the UK office where he leads a team of scientific consultants and business account managers. A pharmaceutical industry veteran with R&D experience spanning multiple scientific disciplines, Kevin is an industry voice for the digitalization of bioscience. He has held numerous public speaking and consortium roles including the chair and coordinator of the European Union eTRIKS IMI project in translational science. Kevin has a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Wales, a postgraduate certificate in Health informatics from the University of Manchester, and PMP accreditation.
Chung Ping Chow, Managing Director Singapore
Chung Ping joined Genedata in 2016 and launched the Genedata Singapore subsidiary. Since then, he has been breaking new ground and forging new partnerships for Genedata in the Asia-Pacific region. An expert in mass spectrometry, through the years he has collaborated with scientists across omics technologies in biopharmaceutical R&D. In addition to his work with Genedata, Chung Ping regularly contributes to industry publications, regional scientific meetings, and serves on the main committee of the Singapore Society of Mass Spectrometry. Chung Ping has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University and an MBA from University of Strathclyde.
