Front-End Developer (React) 60-80%, Genedata Biologics, CH-Basel

The Position

This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape and promote our successful Genedata Biologics product. You will work in a strong, agile, international team with the focus on delivering software that makes a difference. 

As a member of the core software development team, you will be working on the new single-page web application (SPA) front-end of Genedata Biologics™. You will be focusing on the user experience. Your main goal is to create a clean, functional, performant and good-looking user interface. You will work in close cooperation with the back-end team to define the interfaces and interactions between front-end and back-end. 

The position is based at our headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. It is designed as a part-time position for 60-80% employment, but other models could be discussed as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test and maintain the new SPA front-end
  • Assist with maintaining and migrating the legacy user interface
  • Play an active role in our Scrum process
  • Document and communicate your work to your colleagues and other stakeholders

Your Profile

  • BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in computer science, or comparable on-the-job experience
  • 3+ years of relevant software development experience
  • Expert knowledge of React with at least one year experience of building React web applications
  • Experience with testing React code (e.g., Enzyme, Jest)
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript (ES2015+ and preferably TypeScript), HTML5 APIs and related technologies
  • Experience with Responsive Web Design
  • Experience with these technologies and tools is a plus: node.js, webpack, Babel, ESLint, Sass, JSON, REST web services, HATEOAS, Git, Bitbucket, Linux, jQuery, Java, Jenkins
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and unit testing
  • Ability to write code following the DRY and S.O.L.I.D. principles
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English
