Enterprise Software Sales Consultant (Pharma), Genedata Expressionist, USA-Boston

The Position

As an Enterprise Software Sales Consultant, you will create new business for Genedata Expressionist, a leading enterprise software solution for the analysis and management of mass spectrometry data in biotherapeutics characterization.

You will initiate collaborations with innovative R&D departments of biopharmaceutical companies through communication with multiple stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers from science, IT, and business. As part of a dynamic sales team, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing new business, while also growing established accounts. You will actively identify client needs and translate these into requirements that can be solved by Genedata Expressionist. This also requires regular and in-depth internal discussions with internal scientific, technical and business team members in an international setting. You will leverage your exceptional relationship-building and teamwork skills both internally and when working with the various client stakeholders involved in the process. You feel confident navigating client hierarchies and facilitating the progression of opportunities towards a successful close.

This full-time position is based in our office in Lexington (Boston Area), MA, USA, and will have responsibility for specific geographic areas and/or specific accounts in North America. It requires travel within North America on a regular basis and occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Pro-actively drive the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closure
  • Develop new business in the target market, while expanding in existing accounts
  • Develop solution proposals by working closely with the consulting team
  • Present and communicate project proposals, demonstrate ROI, and close sales
  • Manage post-sales accounts
  • Build strong relationships and understand client data workflows and needs

Your Profile

Essential skills and experience:

  • Solid scientific or technical background (MSc or PhD)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to take ownership of the business with a proactive attitude
  • Passion for selling high-value software or enterprise IT solutions in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life science sectors to achieve significant ROI for clients
  • Proven experience closing software license deals >$100k
  • Clear, confident, and thoughtful communication on the phone and in face-to-face meetings both internally and externally
  • A high level of initiative, combined with great interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional and international team
  • Skilled time management with the ability to prioritize goals and successfully move deals through the sales cycle
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English, including demonstrated success in presenting to individuals at multiple levels in client organizations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be currently located in the United States
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer is required

Additional Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience selling consulting and managed IT services
  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry technology, applications, and market
  • Understanding of MS-based biotherapeutics characterization processes

We are also interested in candidates without first-hand sales experience but who have a relevant background in pharma/biotech and the right attitude for a sales position.
