Business Account Manager, Genedata Biologics, USA-Boston

The Position

This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support and grow a successful software, scientific consulting, and managed IT services business. As a Business Account Manager, you will create new business for Genedata Biologics® and Genedata Bioprocess®, our leading enterprise-software solutions for the end-to-end management of all assay-, sequence-, cellular-, and meta-data through the research and development of large molecule therapeutics.

As part of a dynamic sales team, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing new business and also growing accounts, once established. You will initiate collaborations with innovative R&D departments of biopharmaceutical companies through communication with multiple stakeholders, influencers, and decision makers from science, IT, and business. You will leverage your exceptional relationship-building and teamwork skills to confidently navigate client opportunities to a successful close.

This full-time position is based in our office in Lexington (Boston Area), MA, USA, and will have responsibility for specific accounts in North America. This position requires travel within North America on a regular basis and occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Pro-actively drive the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closure
  • Perform market analyses and systematic, large-scale outreach campaigns through telephone cold calls, communicating marketing materials, and other methods
  • Devise and implement account strategic and tactical plans
  • Develop new business in the target market, while expanding in existing accounts
  • Build strong face-to-face relationships and understand client data workflows and needs
  • Develop solution proposals by working closely with the Genedata scientific, technical, and project management consulting team
  • Present and communicate project proposals, demonstrate ROI, and close sales
  • Manage post-sales account success and growth of user base, sell service projects, and identify the need for other Genedata products and coordinate with other Genedata product teams to meet these needs

Your Profile

Essential skills and experience:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to take ownership of the business with a proactive attitude
  • Experience in software sales, ideally in enterprise software, or selling consulting services
  • Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical research and development process and familiarity with biopharma R&D workflows, such as antibody discovery, protein engineering, cell line development, bioprocess development and CMC, biopharma production and analytics, and laboratory automation
  • Passion for selling high-value software or enterprise IT solutions in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life science sectors to achieve significant ROI for clients
  • Ability to interact productively with scientists, managers, and IT experts both internally and externally
  • Clear, confident, and thoughtful communication on the phone and in face-to-face meetings both internally and externally
  • An MBA or advanced degree (i.e. PhD, MS, BS) in the Life Sciences, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related fields
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Must be currently located in the United States and have authorization to work on a full-time basis for any employer

We are also interested in candidates without first-hand sales experience but who have a relevant background in pharma/biotech and the right attitude for a sales position.
