About the Role
As Legal Counsel, you will be a part of Genedata’s corporate global legal team and will report directly to Genedata’s Head of Legal. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts (license, consulting services, collaboration etc.) with clients and partners. You will provide legal advice, guidance, and representation for the senior management and business stakeholders. This also includes providing input on business decisions as well as legal strategies for legal activities. This position will also be responsible implementing and maintaining compliance policies and protocols in conjunction with the global legal team.
This full-time position is based at our office in Lexington, MA. It requires some travel in the US, and potentially Switzerland.
We are offering a base salary range of between $115,000 to $150,000 for this position.
Your Responsibilities
- Drafting, revising, and reviewing license, service and collaboration agreements together with internal business stakeholders
- Participating in contract negotiations and providing advice to business stakeholders on contracts and contract compliance
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders on various contract-related aspects
- Provide internal training on contracts and compliance
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, ethical practices, company values, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations
- Continuous improvement of contract-related processes and policies as well as supporting business management in planning and implementing such improvements
- Providing legal advisory services to all departments and functions in general legal matters
- Legal monitoring with respect to changes and regulatory updates
Skills & Experience
- JD degree with admission to at least one state bar
- 6+ years’ post qualification experience as attorney, in-house legal counsel or in a similar role, ideally in an IT/ Software/IP driven industry
- Proven track record in a consulting role (with management, clients and partners) as well as solving complex legal matters in a business context
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating complex contracts; keen interest in privacy law preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of contract law and employment law
- Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English; knowledge of German language is a plus
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
