About the Role

Do you want to research new analysis methods for our software and create exciting new features, based on both, traditional data science and newest artificial intelligence methods that pave the way for the future of drug discovery? Are you enjoying working on a variety of projects while expanding your skill set (scientific, technical, and soft skills)?

We are looking for a Data Scientist from a mathematical and/or computer science background and with experience in Deep Learning to join our scientific team at Genedata in Basel. Our data science field requires to stay dynamic. So, be interested and open to drive projects and ideas.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze real-world data based on AI and classical data science approaches in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders and conceptualize related software features.
  • Work on your own projects or assist the team by analysis of customer data, feasibility studies, feature specification, and benchmarking.
  • Prototype and implement selected and bespoke algorithms, interface with SCRUM-driven Software Engineers.
  • Document and present your work, its use cases/results and implemented methods, internally and externally.

Skills & Experience

  • PhD or MS in computer science, bioinformatics, applied physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • Project experience with deep/machine learning and algorithmic understanding of deep learning approaches especially convolutional neural networks.
  • Experience in developing statistical methods and analysis pipelines for use by others.
  • Experience in scripting project code, preferably in Python
  • Basic familiarity with the UNIX shell environment.
  • Track record of successful data science projects in working for/in a team
  • Track record of presenting to and communicating with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. managers, scientists, and IT experts).
