New Release Genedata Expressionist Strengthens Cross-Omics Technology Integration for Biomarker Discovery

Basel, Switzerland, 2007/01/30

Swiss-based computational biology firm Genedata announces the release of Genedata Expressionist® Pro 4.0, a fully scalable data management and analysis platform for biomarker discovery. Uniquely, Expressionist integrates cross-omics technologies within a single enterprise-wide computational system.

A major challenge in biomarker discovery is the integration of a variety of omics data, including transcript profiles generated from different microarray technologies, and protein and metabolite profiles obtained from mass-spectrometry technologies. These data must be combined to understand biological processes at different functional levels. The Expressionist platform automates the integration process and standardizes the way results are placed in scientific context.

Expressionist now also supports the Illumina technology platform. This enables a combined analysis of microarray data, for example Illumina and Affymetrix arrays, as well as mass spectrometry data. The system is supported by a fully integrated relational database system and by APIs to integrate third party algorithms (for example R scripts).

Expressionist facilitates a complete workflow from data quality assurance to biological interpretation. Within the Expressionist analysis workflow, users will also be able to annotate their results with GeneGo’s Metacore and with Ingenuity Pathway Analysis system.

Biomarker discovery has become an important component for cost-efficient safety and efficacy prediction in preclinical development. “We have strengthened Expressionist to support our growing customer base in Europe, US and Asia for biomarker discovery in toxicogenomics, pharmacogenomics and diagnostics”, explained Dr. Othmar Pfannes, CEO of Genedata AG.
