Today, Degussa and Genedata announced the expansion of Genedata's software platform across multiple research sites at Degussa. The license expansion includes both flagships of Genedata's product portfolio, Genedata Expressionist®, for the analysis and interpretation of mRNA and protein expression data, and Genedata Phylosopher® as a central corporate research information management system. Both systems had first been deployed at Degussa Feed Additives, there representing the business unit's central bioinformatics platform, and are now being used at Degussa's Care Specialties business unit.
"Degussa Care Specialties is a pioneer in the application of microarray analysis to monitor the mode-of-action of active ingredients in cosmetics," says Dr. Mike Farwick, R&D Manager for Active Ingredients. "Genedata's comprehensive software platform allows us to take full leverage from the experimental data we generate. The efficient statistical analysis tools allow us to gain in-depth information about the biological activity of Degussa's proprietary compounds on a cellular level. Integrated pathway analysis modules are instrumental for the biological interpretation of the experimental data. The ideas gathered on a molecular level enable us to carry out targeted in vivo experiments to provide our customers with reliable and comprehensive documentation on the activity of our cosmetics ingredients as part of Degussa's "Solutions to Customers" approach."
"Substantiated research and development combined with adequate IT-solutions are instrumental to sustain and expand our market leadership," says Dr. Christian Weitemeyer, Vice President R&D of Degussa Care Specialties. "For us Genedata's technology is representing the industry standard for comprehensive analysis of biological data and technical scalability. The expansion of its use within Degussa perfectly supports our strategy of "Linking Knowledge" and enables us to make the best use of the scientific and technological synergies between Degussa's different business units."
"We are happy to be able to expand our successful collaboration with Degussa," says Othmar Pfannes, PhD, CEO of Genedata. "Degussa is a prime example for the growing potential of biotechnology and molecular biology within the chemical industry. The flexibility of Genedata's products and services provides tailored solutions to the full bandwidth of industrial life science applications from pharma over biotechnological production processes to cosmetic science."
