Genedata Licenses Functional Genomics Data Analysis System to Schering AG

Basel, 2000/10/04

Genedata AG (Switzerland) has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with Schering AG (Germany) to use Expressionist, Genedata's highly successful software system for the analysis of gene expression array data. The agreement is part of an ongoing collaboration between the two partners to improve target-finding and diagnostic capabilities of expression arrays.

Prof. B. Wallmark, Head of Preclinical Drug Research: "Bioinformatics is a cornerstone of Schering's genomics strategy. Our ongoing collaboration with Genedata helps us to exploit the full potential of gene expression arrays for our discovery research."

Genedata's CEO, Dr Othmar Pfannes, adds: "The partnership with Schering helps us to stay on top of new developments in chip technology and to develop the next-generation analysis tools for widespread applications in the pharmaceuticals and diagnostics industries."

Expressionist is a computational system for enterprise-wide analysis of gene expression arrays (gene chips) and supports various gene expression technologies. Expressionist is part of Genedata's bioinformatics platform which also comprises Phylosopher, a computational system for the identification of gene function based on large scale genome comparison, and Impressionist for the large-scale analysis of proteomics data.
